    Lemans Tires
From the
Bridgestone/Firestone tire manufacturer comes Lemans tires.
The name is based on the world famous race, Le Mans however
the tires are only retailed for commercial use. Like other
major tire companies, the Bridgestone/Firestone conglomerate
produces many brands of tire on the market in an effort to
offer the consumer variety. In order for tire companies to
attract customers they need to offer these variations of
tire to keep consumers coming back. If there were only two
or three tire companies in the world all selling just one
form of tire for each kind of vehicle, then tire
manufacturing competitiveness would not exist and therefore
improvements in tire production would cease. Indeed when
companies compete then we, the consumer, reap the rewards.
So like Goodyear and other firms which have an array of
different tires, so too does Bridgestone/Firestone with
Lemans tires.
One
tire from this group is the PLE champion tire. This
particular tire is for touring and has an ultra wide tread
which allows for excellent handling. The tire’s steel belts
and polyester cords give it durability and longevity.
Primarily intended for luxury vehicles, the PLE is still a
popular buy with standard vehicles. Reviews of this tire
have been mixed with many stating that the tire runs
smoothly and the tread is long lasting. Negative comments
have been that Lemans tires are not so long lasting as we
are led to believe - the treads wear quickly and not evenly.
There are pros and cons for anything you buy these days and
tires are no exception. When you are out shopping for a new
set of tires, grill the salesperson about Lemans tires and
see what sort of feedback you can get.
Choosing the right and best set of
tires for your vehicle is a difficult thing to do.
Salesclerks and others will push the famous and expensive
brands, hoping you’ll shell out loads of money based on the
name. There are still others that will try to sell you cheap
unknown brands simply because the tires won’t sell. Beware
of these cheap tires, they may look great and be easy on
your pocket, but in the long run repairs to your vehicle may
cost you more. Lemans tires, although not a hugely selling
tire, are considered safe and retail at reasonable prices.
Bridgestone/Firestone have had a few problems with the leman
brand over the years, however the company has made serious
improvements to its production and recently the tire is
gaining a good reputation. If you invest in a set of Lemans
tires, you will probably have zero problems.
